System Engineer Job Description

Summary:
Karpel Solutions is seeking a highly motivated System Engineer to join our IT team. In this role, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive support for our client’s desktop, server, and cloud environments, as well as Microsoft 365 services and products. Ensuring that clients have minimal downtime and optimal computing experiences by performing remote and on-site monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage and administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Azure AD
- Implement and enforce Microsoft 365 security policies and best practices, such as MFA and conditional access
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to Windows desktop, server, Microsoft 365, software, network, and infrastructure related issues
- Document and maintain system configurations, procedures, and standards
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls within Active Directory
- Perform system administration tasks, including patching, updates, and configuration management
- Monitor system health and identify potential issues proactively
- Configure, monitor, and validate regular system backups to ensure data integrity and recovery capabilities
- Analyze incoming emails for potential phishing attempts or threats and educating users on best practices for email security
- Collaborate with other IT professionals and vendors to ensure seamless integration of systems and services
- Participates in ongoing training and attainment of manufacturer certifications to further develop your technical skills
- Develops and maintains relationships with customers that further develop our company's positive reputation through exceptional customer service.
- Develop personal skills to work individually efficiently and effectively and as a member of the Technical Services team
- Detailed and precise recording of time spent on solving problems
- Other duties as assigned by the Director
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- At least 3 years of experience in supporting Microsoft 365 administration and services
- At least 3 years of experience in supporting Windows OS desktops and laptops
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, services, and devices, such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Azure AD, Intune, Autopilot
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Virtual server, Hyper V, Scale, and VMware virtualization
- Experience with troubleshooting, configuring, and supporting small to enterprise level Active Directory environments
- Experience with implementing and administration of enterprise switches, firewalls, routers, and wireless access systems
- Knowledge of networking concepts, computer components, LAN/WAN, browsers, and mobile devices
- Ability to travel from one site to another during day or night depending on project or onsite job
- Team player with the ability to conduct work with utmost confidentiality and professionalism
- Excellent communication skills with a customer service orientation and an ability to work well with all levels of the organization
- Able to demonstrate professional and empathetic behavior in the resolution of both routine and complex customer problems
- Manage multiple high priority initiatives in a fast paced, highly technical environment
- Highly self-motivated and organized
- Keen attention to detail
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience with ConnectWise Manage and ConnectWise Command (formally Continuum) a plus
- Managed Services experience a plus
- Relevant technical certifications are a plus
